The Client.
Anderson Outreach provides a safety net for youth suffering from mental health issues, as well as intellectual developmental disabilities. Mainly operating in the Charlotte, North Carolina region, the nonprofit organization specializes in filling in the gaps for the needs and emotional well-being of youth separated from their family and living in treatment facilities.

Anderson Outreach, founded in March 2023 by Alfred Owens, aims to empower children and youth to thrive. They assist youth from treatment facilities and group homes who have faced abandonment and trauma. While residential settings provide necessities, Anderson Outreach offers workshops, therapeutic support, and activities for personalized support. They advocate for the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of youth from diverse backgrounds, addressing gaps in life and social skills development.
The Challenge.
With a strong commitment to supporting Charlotte’s youth in need, Anderson Outreach had no plans to limit its services. The newly stationed Executive Director, Alesia Fleming, contacted King’s Dream to develop a strategic plan to strengthen its internal structure and integrate donor and grant funding.

KDBC audited Anderson Outreach’s current operational, financial, and internal structures to identify process gaps. We then dove a bit deeper with a financial analysis, where we could evaluate the organization’s economic health.
This led us to our first round of recommendations, which included reviewing and augmenting bylaws and creating a Donor List spreadsheet to track monetary and in-kind donations.
The Deliverables.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Development
Operational Audit
Financial Analysis
Program & Board Development

The Strategy.
The firm created a list of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure Anderson Outreach's programs' effectiveness and financial feasibility. We did this to help the organization make more informed decisions and demonstrate accountability to stakeholders and donors.
“Our programs strategically focus on strengthening their social and interpersonal skills,” “So many things we teach our kids as parents through rites of passage or as they become age-appropriate these young adults simply do not receive.” - Alesia Fleming, Executive Director
Next, we turned our attention to volunteer management. Since Anderson Outreach depends significantly on volunteers, it was necessary to create tools for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for different projects.
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
Anderson Outreach sought to achieve its annual fundraising goal of $50,000 through donations, social media marketing, grants, and fundraising events. A robust fundraising strategy was essential for successful execution.
Effective fundraising extends beyond simply collecting donations; it also encompasses grant applications. To streamline this process, KDBC developed an internal organizational system featuring a grant tracker, a donor database, and a comprehensive “Thank You” package for donor appreciation.
Like many organizations, Anderson Outreach relies significantly on word-of-mouth to attract volunteers and increase donations. We implemented a social media content calendar to enhance its outreach, ensuring consistent community updates and engagement.
